Cabbage shows special cholesterol lowering properties when
it is steamed, the fiber related components in cabbage shows binding capacity
with bile acids in the digestive tract and thus lowering cholesterol level.
Even raw cabbage shows less cholesterol lowering properties than steamed
cabbage. Researches shows cabbage is good in preventing cancer especially
colon, prostate and bladder cancer. Short cooked or raw cabbage only has the
cancer preventive property. Cabbage is rich in antioxidant and has
anti-inflammatory properties. Cabbage juice helps to cure stomach ulcer.
Ingredients:
- Cabbage chopped – 1 cup
- Green chilies – 2
- Oil – 1 tsp
- Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
- Urad dhal – 1tsp
- Curry leaves – 1 sprig
- Salt to taste
Procedure:
- First heat oil in a pan, add mustard, urad dhal, curry leaves and split green chilies, fry for few seconds.
- And then add chopped cabbage and fry for few minutes until it cooked
- Finally add salt and switch off the stove.
Note: Add cooked moong dhal or sprouted moong dhal to make
it more nutritious.
