Ragi adai/ Finger millet adai

To those who meditate the feet of him who is void of desire or aversion, evil shall never come. - Thirukural.

Ragi Adai

Ragi or finger millet contains aminoacid typtophan which lowers appetite and helps in keeping weight in control. It contains calcium and also it helps to control blood sugar level. Ragi also lowers the blood cholesterol. Ragi is very good source of natural iron, hence ragi consumption lowers the risk of anemia.
Ragi adai can be prepared as either sweet adai or savory adai. In savory adai my mom adds drumstick leaves; since I couldn’t get it here I have added few curry leaves. It is really good for children and also health conscious people.

Ingredients

  • Ragi flour - 1 cup
  • Onion chopped - 1/4 cup
  • Green chilies  – 1 chopped (adjust to your taste)
  • Curry leaves – 1 sprig
  • Water - 1/4 cup
  • salt - to taste
  • Oil – 2 tsp

How to make

  1. Mix all the above ingredient with little water and make a dough.
  2. Grease your hand, take a small amount of dough, spread it on the plastic cover and make a thin adai using your hand.
  3. Then heat a pan and cook adai with little oil. Cook on both sides.
  4. Serve hot with curd or pickle.
